San Fernando Giant Lantern Festival
Visit Ermita, Manila during the winter month of December to participate in the special event known as The San Fernando Giant Lantern Festival. This special event festival is held annually. During the fiesta, residents and visitors from around the world come to honor La Nuestra Señora de Guia. Our Lady of Expectations is another name that La Nuestra Señora de Guia is commonly known to many by. Young women and escorts walk along with giant lanterns to the 1918 shrine dedicated to the image.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is an annual even in Intramuros, Manila that is held in the beginning of December. To honor the Immaculate Conception, a special Eucharistic celebrabration is held. Women dressed as over 50 different Marion images from around the country join in a grand procession around the city. Visitors from all over the Philippines and other countries come to participate in this unique and amazing celebration.
Feast of the Black Nazarene
Visit Quiapo, Manila in the beginning of January for the annual special event known as the Feast of the Black Nazarene. In this grand event, the image of the Black Nazarene is honored through an afternoon processions that thousands of visitors from around the world come to see. The Black Nazarene was said to have been transported from Mexico to Manila back in the early 17th century by galleon.
Pasungay
During the winter months, a special event known as Pasungay is held in the Philippines. Up on the San Joaquin hillside, visitors will see a spectacular amount of prized bulls from around the area. The bulls from the area and surrounding towns fight among each other while spectators cheer on their favorites. Pasungay truly takes bull fighting to a whole new level through this special event.
Kadayawan Sa Dabaw
Kadayawan Sa Dabaw is one of the most popular special events in all of the Philippines. Celebrate the bountiful harvests and food of the people through grand celebrations. Fun activities are available for both children and adults to participate in. This includes a fruit and flower show, sporting events and activities that are traditional to the area, tribal parade, military parade, horsefighting, dancing and so much more.
